Leadership
Bob Horak, President
After emigrating from Europe, Bob Horak began work in Canada’s western provinces and northern territories—all the way up to the High Arctic. It was a time when resource industries were expanding, and so were the communities of people who worked in those industries. With this growth there was an increase in the construction of resource extraction facilities as well as the physical plant of institutional and commercial buildings.
Bob found his passion in constructing and servicing boilers, the essential equipment that helps sustain operations and provide comfortable living and working environments. He built his expertise and became a rep for Volcano boilers, of which there are still many around today. Bob is also an authorized distributor for Autoflame and Limpsfield burners and control systems.
In 1992, Bob and a couple of partners established Allied Boiler Services. The company has since become a leading provider of boiler services, taking on new installs, retrofits and refurbishments, and troubleshooting and repairs.
Bob’s approach to business is to focus on the customer’s needs, whatever that may be. For a project in Latin America, Bob learned to speak Spanish so that he could better communicate with his client and the local people he hired. Bob also goes the extra mile when the building control panels for retrofitted and refurbished boilers. He ensures his designs are intuitive for operators and optimized for safety.
